Support clean water + inspired nail art

In honor of Aveda Earth Month 2015, I have created a nail design that blends several blue hues. The featured base color is CND Vinylux in Creekside. I layered with CND Vinylux  in Indigo Frock and Maybelline Color Show in Shock Wave.

Using a few custom cut makeup brushes I had lying around and placing drops of polish on aluminum foil….it was super simple to create this wispy look by layering the shades over the dry base color.

frosted twilight

The holiday season keeps my manicures interesting. This week I chose to go a bit further into freehand. Starting with CND Vinylux cream puff – a crisp white for the base. Secondly, I used a thin nail art brush to swipe a custom blue/gray Vinylux shade in a crescent shape along the side. If you use light motions while the white coat is still wet you’ll get a more abstract effect, repeat with metallic gold. I did both the side colors one nail at a time. All topped off with the Vinylux weekly topcoat!

scratch nail wraps + flash tattoos

One of my favorite ways to get a flawless mani is with nail wraps. I’ve recently discovered the artfully fun world of Scratch. I chose “Divine Dotwork” by Cally Jo Art for my first purchase with the brand.
I layered Flash Tattoos in Zahra over my ring fingers for a bit of shimmer.

The wraps applied beautifully and the instructions are very simple to follow from the website. I sealed the manicure with CND Vinylux weekly topcoat.

negative space manicure + beauty marks

I’m a pain-o-phobe. Seriously. Like infant tolerance. Reason #1 why committing to a tattoo has yet to happen.

Enter the wonderful world of adult temporary tattoos! The aptly named “beauty marks” with Mr. Kate are beyond fun. I can’t wait to try them all on.

As for my simple nail art, I chose to use small tape strips on an angle. Once you apply polish simply pull the tape up. It’s extremely important to do this while nails are wet. I know it seems scary but it prevents the polish from building a noticeable edge around your lines.
