Weekend Getaway: Miami Beach

Playlist for the road trip-

Day 1

The Local -craft beer brunch

Coral Gables has its share of bars, but the Local is the ultimate neighborhood spot for craft beer, thanks to 18 taps and more than 20 different bottles and cans that change seasonally. Expect frequent tap takeovers and special releases, like Bell’s Hopslam, which only surfaces once a year, and other rare ales. And because beer pairs so beautifully with food, the restaurant hosts a monthly brew-paired brunch series, Roast and Toast, with various guest breweries.

Urbanica The Meridian Hotel -late afternoon

URBANICA The Meridian Hotel is located in the upscale South of Fifth neighborhood in Miami Beach. It aims to create a boutique hotel experience that speaks to the savvy & sophisticated world traveller.

Matador Room– Dinner

Inspired by its rich history and 1950s glamour, world-renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has reinvented the iconic Matador Room with reimagined menus that offer his interpretation of Caribbean, Spanish, and Latin and South American cuisines.  Seasonal menus are composed of small and large plates that embrace the freshest, locally sourced, seasonal produce. The space’s original chandelier has been restored and is suspended over the sunken oval dining room that is reminiscent of the glamorous supper clubs of the 1940s and 50s.

Day 2

Salty Donut– Breakfast

The Salty Donut is an Artisanal Donut Shop & Coffee Bar focused on chef-made, small-batch craft donuts using nothing but the highest quality ingredients and making EVERYTHING in house! We also have an incredibly unique coffee program, featuring rotating coffees with interesting flavor profiles, crafted by some of the best baristas around.

Explore Wynwood

Unique outdoor destination featuring huge, colorful street murals by artists from around the globe.

Mandolin Aegean Bistro – Lunch

Mandolin Aegean Bistro is dedicated to using seasonal ingredients, local purveyors and growers, freshly caught fish and farmed meats. The menu covers a great selection of vegetarian options and our food is made with the highest quality extra virgin Greek olive oil and authentic imported ingredients from Greece and Turkey. All of our bread and pastries are baked in house. We also offer a selection of regional specialties that are seasonal dishes that change daily. Old world style wines dominate the wine list as it perfectly pairs with our food at Mandolin.

Choose your own adventure-Cocktail Hour

Option 1- Sugar

Inspired by our Chinese and Hong Kong roots, Sugar brings an Asian-influenced restaurant & bar experience to the heart of Miami’s Brickell district. Located on the 40th floor rooftop of the EAST, Miami Hotel at Brickell City Centre, a lush garden setting serves as an untraditional hideaway located high in the sky above urban downtown Miami. Our menu combines a variety of culinary heritages; offering authentic Asian flavors, signature cocktails and family style service. A curated mix of sounds by local and international DJs create a fun and laid-back atmosphere, accentuated by panoramic views of the Miami skyline.

Option 2- Pawn Broker

Hidden in the depths of Miami’s towering financial district, at first glance only a subtle echo in the warm skies, once discovered though, now that’s when it all begins …

You’ll share a ‘cheers’ with the art dealer from Stockholm, in town to organize an exhibit in Wynwood. Sip on a Pawn Broker classic cocktail with the Documentary Director from New York, in town every other week for his Discovery Channel documentary. Or be out on the decadent terrace, gazing at the beauty of the sun setting, with the Italian artist who sells her goods in Miami’s Design District.
